Information Leap into the New Millenium in the Czech Republic! What will be next ?
Jaroslav Šilhánek, Institute of Chemical Technology
Last year the academic community in Czech Republic witnessed of very substantial and unexpected progress in the area of
widespread access to information resources. Practically all universities and institutions of Academy of Sciences and many other
research institution have access to the most important secondary sources and the number of periodicals available in electronic
forms often in full text format exceeded the situation ever existed in the Czech Republic. Will this trend continue? Will be more
attention given to quality of information instead of its quantity or to supporting instruments? Are we able to exploit present access
to information resources? Lecture will be devoted to evaluation of some common factors together with our up to date experience and
data on usage. The attempt to predict next development will be presented.
