New Trends in Digitizing Historical Documents

Image compression creates room for high-quality image provision. New formats are now available to be used effectively. Image resolution is the key factor for quality and effectivity of transfering information. The resolution should respond to the actual information content. The combination of compression (with controlled quality loss) and correctly determined resolution level brings more information content of the documents while reducing data volume significantly.
