Abstract

The article is devoted to the Slovak Library Portal – InfoLib. The portal was developed by the Slovak Centre of Scientific and Technical Information, Bratislava (SCSTI) in a cooperation with the Slovak Librarians Association and the Department of Library and Information Science, Comenius University of Bratislava with the considerable financial support from the Open Society Foundation in Bratislava. The InfoLib Portal is constructed as a vertical thematic one. Its structure, functions and the importance for the Slovak librarianship development are described in the article.

About the author

The author graduated from the Department of Library and Information Science, Comenius University of Bratislava. After completing her studies she worked as a methodist in the Slovak Medical Library, Bratislava. Since 1989 she has been in charge of editing the national periodical called ITlib. Information Technologies and Libraries in the SCSTI. She is an organisational guarantee of the InfoLib Portal.
