Abstract:

Subject gateway KIV (LIS – Library and information science) enables users to use one interface for parallel searching of databases in library and information science subject area. The main service is searching databases. Easy searching of online web sources stored in a bibliographic database stands as an addition. KIV offers added functions which enable users to get the full text of the specific document or to get information about the document availability in catalogues of Czech Republic libraries, to order the electronic document delivery, to get more information on author etc. My Space enables to choose and save the users´s list of resources, save search history and personalize services of the portal (e.g. automatic sending records from selected resources on email). KIV was created as a part of Coordinated formation of subject information gateways project in research area of the National Library of the Czech Republic and the Charles University in Prague.
