Abstract:
Vladimír Karen (born in 1963) graduated at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the Czech Technical University in Prague in 1988. Then he joined the first Compact Disc manufacturer Gramofonove zavody in Lodenice near Prague, where he was initially co-responsible for starting up the premastering studio and then for the introduction of CD-ROM production and publishing the first Czech demo CD-ROM.
Vladimir Karen became a co-founder of a private company ICOME s.r.o . in 1991, which was a pioneering company in the CD-ROM business in the former Czechoslovakia. The company later transformed into Albertina icome Praha s.r.o., where he is now the Managing Director.

Vladimír Karen (nar. 1963) nastoupil po ukončení studií na Elektrotechnické fakultě ČVUT v Praze v roce 1988 do Gramofonových závodů Loděnice, kde pracoval nejprve jako směnový vedoucí kontroly v poloprovozní výrobě CD a poté se jako směnový vedoucí premasteringu účastnil instalace a zavádění výroby ve studiu CD provozu. Během svého dalšího působení se zevrubně seznámil s technologií PC a v letech 1990-91 se aktivně účastnil zavádění výroby CD-ROM a vydání prvních československých CD-ROM disků.
V roce 1991 se stává jedním ze zakládajících společníků ICOME s.r.o., společnosti zaměřené na zavedení technologie CD-ROM na československý trh. ICOME s.r.o. se stala jedním z prvních propagátorů, distributorů a vydavatelů CD-ROM a souvisejících technologií u nás. Po transformaci ve společnost Albertina icome Praha s.r.o. v roce 1995 se stal jejím obchodním ředitelem. Dnes je výkonným ředitelem a jednatelem této společnosti.
