Detailed Programme

WORKSHOP A: Reinvent! Developing the Skills Needed to Reinvent a Library (in English)

Session coordinator: Carl Grant, University of Oklahoma Libraries, United States

Time and venue: May 29, 10:00 AM - 1:30 PM, CERGE-EI, Prague 1, Politickych veznu 7, 2nd floor, room No. 7

This workshop will be led by Carl Grant.

Librarians can achieve better results for their communities when they learn to overcome thinking that holds them, and their communities back.

In this workshop, we’ll focus on the basic skills needed to enable that to happen, including listening closely, envisioning without restraint and implementing the resulting ideas while respecting current realities. Sessions will be interactive and engaging and attendees will leave with a new set of ideas and ways to use in reshaping their libraries.

WORKSHOP B: Social Media Archiving (in English)

Session coordinator: Yvonne Ng, WITNESS, United States

Time and venue: May 29, 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM, National Library of Technology, Prague 6, Technicka 6/2710, Educational center (2nd floor)

This workshop will be led by Yvonne Ng.

Social media has become central in our lives: We follow it to watch historical moments unfold live around the world. We use it to communicate with family, friends, and colleagues. Entire communities sprout up and live on these platforms. What will be lost from history if social media is not archived and preserved? At the same time, what new practical, ethical, and legal concerns arise?

This workshop will explore these issues in a participatory and interactive format.

Participants do not need any previous knowledge of social media archiving, just an interest in learning about and discussing the topic!
