Graduated with a degree in technical cybernetics at the Technical University in Prague.
In 1991 he became one of the founders of ICOME Ltd., which was focused on the introduction of CD-ROM technology to the Czechoslovak market. In the company he was responsible for implementation of projects. After transformation of the company into Albertina icome Praha s.r.o in 1995 he became its chief financial officer. In 1999 a separate company AiP Safe was detached from Albertina icome s.r.o. Long-term storage and document management activities were assigned to this company. At present, Jan Mottl is the executive and managing director of AiP Safe.
