Abstract

Over the past decade, open access (OA) has become a viable way of publishing that has been widely discussed and gained tremendous support within the scientific community. Springer has actively taken part in these discussions and in establishing OA as a further publishing model that supports expanding access to top-quality scientific publications for researchers worldwide. Since the launch of Springer Open Choice in 2004, Springer has continued to be both receptive and proactive in the OA movement. As a result Springer’s OA portfolio has greatly expanded over the last several years, now including SpringerOpen, Chemistry Central and BioMed Central, and we have gained substantial experience in open access publishing. This talk will provide insights into open access and Springer’s products and services.
