Leading the Way: the Information Professional's Role

In a working environment characterised by relentless change, leadership is a necessary ingredient for professional success. This session focuses on how information professionals can define and communicate their vision of their role, and the value of the information centre to stakeholders within their organisations. The effective positioning of the value of the information service is not simply a marketing proposition. It is achieved through Leadership.

This session sets the framework for the Quantum2 programme offered by The Dialog Corporation. Quantum2 is an interactive skills development programme designed to enhance the effectiveness of the information preofessional and to help them become strategic leaders within their organisations

Elizabeth Blankson-Hemans is Manager, Information Professional Market Development for Dialog in Europe.

Liz has over 15 years experience in the information industry. She was previously manager of Central Information Services at Clifford Chance LLP. Her experience has included managing teams responsible for vendor supply relationships and contract negotiation, research and reference services including intranet content development and user training, as well as resource and systems management. She was also involved in knowledge management activities at the firm including taxonomy and classification control initiatives.

Liz a Chartered Associate of CILIP, a board member and membership chair of the European Chapter of the Special Libraries Association (SLA). She is also the SLA’s Legal Division European Liaison and writes a regular column for their quarterly newsletter.
