Abstract

Currently, mobile information and communication technologies represents an effective tool for the disseminating of information. Under certain conditions the information could become independent of time and space. Producers of the electronic information sources adapt their services for mobile devices. The information they provide can be ubiquitously accessible by users. However, are users ready to use information provided in the professional electronic information sources through the mobile technologies? What features should have an appropriate information architecture of the user interface? Are currnet interfaces usable for the access to these services? This poster represents an introduction to the beginning research, which should provide answers to the questions above. It focuses on the challenges and opportunities of the mobile information and communication technologies in the access to the professional electronic information sources.

Author's professional CV

Since 2013 Kamil Matula is a PhD student in the Institute of Information Studies and Librarianship, Faculty of Arts, Charles University in Prague. In his dissertation he is focused on the mobile information and communication technologies and their usability in the access to the electronic information sources. He also works as an assistant at the Department of Information Science, Faculty of Philosophy and Science in Opava, Silesian university in Opava. His research and teaching activities are focused especially on the usability, possibilities, challenges and advantages of the mobile information and communication technologies as well as on the electronic information sources and bibliographic systems.
