Abstract

The main problem of companies in current economic environment is to provide continual competition. Information and knowledge exploitation is the competitive advantage. Growing demands on information support by enterprise influence the strategy of building information centres.

The monitoring of external environment through public information sources is the mission of these centres. They participate by creating, extension and quality of company knowledge base to contribute to reduction of risk in decision processes. The main target is the high-quality information service, maximal user comfort, quality, rapidity and relevant information. Information workers' knowledge and experience are the added information value and competitive advantage.

Portfolio of library-information services and products come out from company strategic objectives and trends. Scope and methods of providing information services relate directly with users' changing information requirements.
