Abstract

Comprehensive register of scientific research results in the Czech Republic exists from 1996. Information system IS VaVaI operated by the Council for Research, Development and Innovation is used for this purpose. It collects, processes and provides data on R & D. The exact name of this register is RIV (Register of Results). It was used only for collecting of publications that related only to the projects or research projects financed from state budget at the beginning. They started to evaluate these projects according to number of given results from 2004. There was great turnover in 2008. State decided to significantly change management of grants according quality of research. A methodology for result evaluation was created. It was used to assign points to results. These points started to have financial value from 2010. This value determined amount of money provided to individual research institutions. There are established rules for submitting results to RIV. They explains, which information have to be included for each type of result and what template have to be used. There are various information systems used for data collection and their conversion. One of these systems is provided by DERS company. It’s name is OBD. OBD focuses to register data about various research activities not only for evaluation but for presentation of institution, workplace or individual also. Basic features of this software are entering and editing records depending on user access rights, offers code lists, own defined checks of entered data, form help contents, allows to define approval workflow,

possibility to sort and categorize data of records, export of data to various predefined formats or user defined formats, imports from most common data resources. System flexibly reflect demands of actual R & D requirements, so it can meet increasing importance of reported results. OBD offers new version each year to meet new RIV export requirements and provide new features for data processing.
