The Internet offers researchers also in the field of history advantages they hardly imagined in the past, particularly remote access to e-resources. The methods applied remain the same regardless the technologies that have changed considerably, i.e. developing hypotheses, comparing and verifying information and drawing conclusions. In this respect, these are close to detective’s investigation. The research results we can never consider definite resemble a mosaic composed of fragments found in different places. The author will present this approach in case of his own research on the air war over the Czech territory.
