Fulltext

Abstract:

The papers deals with a logical developing of the information services of the Slovak Library for the Blind of Matej Hrebenda (SKN) since 1996 to a modern Digital library. The aim of the SKn's effort is to access the talking books and magazines, DAISY books and in txt format the books that were published in Braille by the SKN to the blind and visually impaired users on the SKN website. These services have been made accessible due to the Copyright law and the IS standards of public administration and Blind Friendly Web. A significant part of the Digital Library are the digital audio books which are protected against an illegal distribution by the system DRM - Digital Right Management. In spite of a licenced protection, it is possible to listen to the audio books from our website www.skn.sk not only on a PC, but on a cell phone and MP3 player as well. We are proud that the Digital Library project won the Inforum 2007 price in the last year.
