Abstract

Czech terminological database of library and information science (TDLIS) was created during two-years (2001-2002) project that was carried out by Department of Librarianship of Czech National Library and supported by Czech Ministry of Culture. The basic aim of the project was creation of terminological database covering all fields of library and information science and containing above all definitions and english equivalents of terms. This article describes recent development of TDLIS and possibilities of its using for study and practical aims.

About the author

Josef Schwarz (*1974) focuses in the field of information retrival languages, special thesauri construction and administration and subject analysis of documents. He is also dealing with database content management, retrieval systems evaluation, analysis of information resources and terminology management. He studied Faculty of Arts of Charles University in 1993-1999 (specialisation on information studies in Institute of Information Studies and Librarianship). In 1995-1999 he worked in library of Protestant Theological Faculty of Charles University on position of thesaurus and database content administrator and retrieval specialist. In 1998-2001 he worked in Parliamentary library on the same position. Recently he works as independent information consultant.
