What is New About Accessing ETD in the Czech Republic

Abstract:

This article sums up an actual activities and main aims of the Electronic Theses and Dissertations Work Group. ETD is mainly aimed at the formulation of instructions and recommendation for default procedures leading to the trouble-free cooperation options of making local systems and ETD registers in the Czech Republic till this time making separately. This article introduces the Project of preparing national register, which would serve up complex services in the uniform system and at the one place. Finally it sums up main results of the analyses about the actual situation on the Czech Universities about using ETD made in the December 2006.
 

About author:

Born 1958. 1984 received PhD degree, Faculty of Philosophy, Charles University Prague, Department of Music Science. 1999 finished study in Library and Information Science in National Library in Pratur, bacelor level. 1990-93 took part on developing of automation system in Music Information Centre, which was focused on documentation of Czech contemporary music life. Since 1994 director of the Library of Academy of Performing Arts in Prague. Oriented to implementation of new technology in information and library services. Solved a number of projects in this field. External teacher at the Institute of Information Studies and Librarianship and at the Institute of Musicology at the Philosophical Faculty of Charles University in Prague. Other topics of interests: methodology of describing special types of documents, data conversation, methodology of document digitalization, music librarianship, ETD. Member of Czech Cataloguing Policy Board, Working Group on Cataloguing of Non-Book Materials and Printed Music, Working Group on Academic Libraries of Council of Universities, Head of the Professional Comitee for Acssesing of the e-Theses.
