Aspects of the quality management of the LIS education

Abstract:

The aim of the paper is to find the balance between factors influencing quality management of LIS education. The paper characterizes the following aspects of the LIS education: 1) Developments in the education system generally and locally; 2) Developments in the professional field and society; 3) Needs of the professional community; 4) Students’ satisfaction with teaching process and content. The paper analysis main trends in education system and LIS education both in Europe and in Latvia. It shows results from the questionnaires about students’ satisfactions with teaching and content of programmes in the University of Latvia and it discusses suggestions obtained from the professionals.
