Abstract:

Students and staff are increasingly expected to use electronic resources while at university. Quality content is no longer sufficient to respond to the evolving needs of information professionals. Technology has driven users to require more, translating into "A New Generation of Information Services" where the tools in which this content can be delivered, accessed, searched, manipulated, managed and shared are essential. RefWorks is exactly such a tool, providing academics, researchers, faculty members and students the means to collect, organize, manage and to publish papers and articles effectively and easily. Fully integrated with major online and desktop resources (e-journals and databases, OPACS, linkresolvers, portals, other bibliographic management and Word/Open Office software…) users capture data effortlessly, can manage and structure their database for easy information retrieval, and format manuscripts and bibliographies in just one click of the mouse. Today’s information specialist then not only needs tools that are multi – tasking, responding to the needs of the user, but also providing assistance to the global needs of an Institution.
