UCL Qatar is the sole provider of a library and information science higher education programme in Qatar. In the last months the programme had been redesigned offering four pathways, including a designated pathway on Archives, Records and Data Management. In this particular domain the challenge was on bringing together knowledge and skills related to records and data management.

This paper will discuss the restructuring process and will explain how it had been informed by an international survey on data management and analysis of job adverts. The revised programme will be assessed in the first delivery in 2018–19.
