Abstrakt

In response to the growing demand of Central European academic libraries for English-language publications Nielsen BookData will present key bibliographic products for acquisition and cataloguing.

Nielsen BookData will demonstrate online bibliographic services with enriched data, MARC records, Network Services and full library quality catalogue records via BDZ (Z39.50). The services presented are Nielsen BookData’s BookFind-Online bibliographic service (www.bookfind-online.com) and BDZ cataloguing service.

BookFind-Online is a fully searchable, web based bibliographic tool used by libraries worldwide offering global coverage on over 4.5 million titles. The service is updated daily and offers content-rich data, including TOCs, price and availability and subject classifications. Additional functionality includes record export facilities in various formats, user preferences and stored list management.

BDZ is a cataloguing resource from BDS (Bibliographic Data Services Ltd) that libraries access via Z39.50 software on their library management system or a windows based client. The BDS database is further enhanced by British Library data and provides libraries with flexible access to high quality catalogue records in MARC format.

The presentation will introduce Nielsen BookData (www.nielsenbookdata.co.uk) as a new entity incorporating three of the book trade’s leading companies Book Data, Whitaker and first Edition.
